Editor’s Letter

Dear Saints,

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus! Once again we have come through another summer season and are heading into fall with cooler weather.

Many of us are thankful for that seasonal change but we also are very aware of the spiritual “weather” that we see so much of in this lost and broken world. We see many acts of violence in the news every day, but none more shocking than the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Charlie had a God-given voice that stood against many of the things our spiritual enemy has been so busy promoting. The devil knows that his time is getting shorter by the hour and he is angry. We can see his true spirit in all the hatred and violence we see happening around us.

Thank God He is still reaching out to any and all who will hear His voice. His promise to end all evil still stands. And we need to remember the words of 2 Peter 3:9 that read, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, no wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

In one sense, the battle of the ages was fought long ago at Calvary when our Savior laid down his earthly life to give us a heavenly one. The main article in this issue focuses on that heavenly life, all that God has given us in Christ, and His desire that we learn to live out that life in preparation for our eternal future.

And that process of learning to live out God’s life happens in the midst of this present world with all its spiritual darkness. Thank God, we have all we need in Jesus including the promise that he will never leave nor forsake us. Heb. 13:5.

Meanwhile we see other scriptures playing out in the world. Many are hardening their hearts when God speaks. When that happens, there comes a time when God turns them over to the darkness they have chosen. Rom. 1:18-32, 2 Thess. 2:11.

We see in our news the many conflicts that are happening among the nations of the world. But the real war is the “unseen” war between Satan’s kingdom and God’s. That war is far more “real” than what we can see in this physical world. Before it is over everyone will be on one side or the other.

For the last while, the assembly in Southern Pines has seen the Lord focus on this unseen war in fresh ways. We have been learning in greater detail how Satan works and how to discern and overcome. I believe that is something the Lord desires for all his people. He is more than willing to teach if only we are truly willing to learn. He is faithful!

Till next time may God’s rich blessings be yours.

Your brother in Christ,
Phil Enlow
