Dear Saints,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus! Here we are again in the Christmas season! Where did the time go? I’m so glad that we can continually rejoice that our Savior was willing to take on flesh, live among us, to die for us, and to rise again, bringing the ultimate victory on behalf of all who put their trust in Him!
The lead article may seem “less than encouraging” but I believe it is very important that we truly understand what we are as a result of being born into Adam’s family. Not only were we born sinners needing a Savior, but we also continue to need the divine life He came to bring for the rest of our earthly journey. We can never come to trust in ourselves in any form but always and only in Him.
The devil knows he cannot undo what Christ has done and what He offers, so he works on believers everywhere to promote things like pride, self-confidence, self-effort and the like. And God faithfully works to turn us away from confidence in ourselves in any form, even when we zealously try to “keep the law” in our own strength. At some point we all need the lesson God taught Paul in Romans 7. Thank God we have all we need in Christ!
Of course, the truth about ourselves as we were born into Adam’s family needs very much to be balanced with the wonderful truths about who we are in Christ. Hence we have included a great list about the new identity given us by God Himself through His Son. We are His children, chosen before the foundation of the world, destined for a new creation where only righteousness and life reign!
We have also included a couple of poems by Bro. Steve Johnson. One has to do with spiritual warfare and victory and the other about a sinner realizing his need and coming to faith in Christ. We continue to be blessed as we look to the Lord for His way forward in this broken world. He has promised never to leave us or forsake us. We are praying about outreach opportunities both locally and around the world. He is faithful!
Till next time may God’s rich blessings be yours.
Your brother in Christ,
Phil Enlow
