Editor's Letter

Dear Saints,

Greetings to all in the wonderful name of Jesus! My father used to half-jokingly refer to me as “the late Mr. Enlow” and I guess he wasn’t far wrong. Here it is the end of March and we’re just pulling together the first quarter issue.

The lead article’s title probably seems a little unusual. Over the last few weeks I have begun to try to pull together the series on “What Does Deception Look Like?” with a book in mind. As I edited, revised, and organized the articles into logical chapters it became obvious that there was a glaring omission in covering the subject.

Part five in the series dealt with Christ as the life and pointed out that religious demons are very active in counterfeiting Christ’s presence throughout much of what is purported to be the Christian church. That presented an opportunity to give some helpful examples, symptoms of their evil activity, hence part 5a. It is likely that there will also be a part 5b as the Lord permits.

About two weeks ago we experienced a fresh reminder that whatever we plan, God has His own plan. The elders of the four assemblies planned to meet in Lexington, South Carolina on a Saturday morning to discuss several matters face-to-face. But the Lord had another plan. Very unexpectedly our Bro. Steve Sharpe from the South Carolina assembly was called home during his sleep the night before. He was only 60 years old and there was no particular reason to expect what happened. We rejoice greatly for our brother whose race has been run but we will surely miss him down here.

Bro. Steve Sharpe

The Lord’s presence was very real as many gathered for his viewing and funeral — it was like a mini-convention — and I believe the overall effect in the churches has been positive. It is a call to all of us of any age. Those who are older need to live with the realization that our time here is limited and those who are younger need to realize that we won’t always be here and they need to learn to truly move in the Lord that they might carry on till Jesus comes. I thank God for the many younger ones upon whose lives the Lord’s blessing and anointing are evident. Remember them, and the assembly in South Carolina in particular.

The article, “There is a River” is taken from a TV broadcast taken from a service recorded in September of 2012. It focuses upon the truth that Jesus “ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.” Eph. 4:10. When he walked upon earth Jesus lived as a man in whom his Father lived. As a man he could not fill anyone else but after the cross, the resurrection, and ascension to glory he was not only filled with the life of God but was able to share that life with his body, the Church. That river of life flows from heaven today and we have the privilege of being filled with it. Ultimately it will fill the entire new creation. Everything and everyone will be filled with the very life of God!

From time to time we publish short articles from Bro. Mike McInnis. In this issue we include, “Proper Order,” which emphasizes Spirit-led Christ-centered order in the conduct of church life as opposed to the many traditional ideas and ways of man. May we turn from our own way to His!

It will not be long now until our June convention which will be held (Lord willing!) in Lexington, South Carolina. Remember it in prayer. Prayerfully consider joining us.

Your brother in Christ,
Phil Enlow
