Editor's Letter

Dear Saints,

Greetings to all in the wonderful name of Jesus!

Well, spring is in full flower after a virtually non-existent winter. We’re enjoying the beauty that exists in God’s creation despite the curse. How wonderful it will be when that curse is no more and all things are made new!

The lead article in this issue continues once again with the series on “What Does Deception Look Like?” I keep thinking, “Just one more should do it,” and then it continues to unfold.

In the last couple of days a phrase from Colossians 3:11 has come strongly to my mind: “Christ is all, and is in all.” I believe that is one way to summarize what this series has been about. Deception, in whatever particular form it comes, is a departure from this simple truth. It is some other head than Christ, some other message than Christ, some other life than Christ.

The area of truth that has had my attention of late concerns not just the ongoing life of the Church but rather its destiny. In Eph. 4:13 Paul speaks of the maturity of the Church when “we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Once again, Christ is at the center. Is it not the Father’s purpose that all of His elect share in the glory of their Head? Christ indeed is all, and when all that he is fills his body the Church then God’s purpose will find fulfillment.

I believe God is calling His people out of mere religion and back to Christ in all his fullness. I sense a growing hunger in our own midst but also in many other places. May we lay hold of God’s promise in Jer. 29:13 — “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

The way time is flying these days it won’t be long before our convention in June. This year it will be June 20-23 in Jacksonville, Florida. I hope you will consider coming and being with us.

We see darkness growing darker all around us but there is light for God’s people. May we remain awake and alert and live as children of light, walking together in love and looking forward to that great day when our Lord returns. May God’s grace be with you all.

Your brother in Christ,
Phil Enlow
