Editor's Letter

Dear Saints,

Greetings to all in the wonderful name of Jesus!

Well, Spring has arrived here in North Carolina and we’re a little behind once again with this issue. However tempting, I won’t blame “spring fever”!

The two main articles this time have to do with issues that have come up for discussion recently. The article, “What About Hell?” seems timely in view of widely-reported news and discussion of a recent controversial book on the subject. Years ago the Lord gave me a conviction that brought rest to my soul and that I believe is true to His word. I hope that you will at least consider it and that it will do the same for you.

The other issue concerns the ministry of women. Views on this range all the way from making women essentially spectators in the church to the other extreme of women apostles, etc. Years ago Bro. Thomas went through several seasons of seeking the Lord’s wisdom in this area and the result was the article we are re-publishing here. I hope it will bring a scriptural balance to this controversial subject. Thank God for godly women!

We have experienced many challenges and attacks of the enemy in our churches in recent months but we also see God giving victory. Some are shaken loose but those who remain are stronger and more united than ever and God is also adding new ones. Heb. 12:26-27, 1 Peter 4:17.

During much of February Bro. Jimmy Robbins and I once again had the privilege of visiting our brothers and sisters in the Philippines. There were many testimonies from the saints there concerning the Lord’s blessings during our visit but the truth is that we were just as blessed! The Lord is faithful in spite of the weaknesses and limitations of the vessels He chooses to use.

We had a variety of opportunities including participating in a tribal wedding, a youth camp, various youth meetings, a visit and meeting at a women’s jail (with much blessing!), a women’s conference, a pastors’ conference, a baptism, and several other church services. We also were able to record three different one-hour tv talk/interview programs. It is always a joy when we arrive on such visits and sad when we leave but we each have our own appointed field of labor. Remember these precious ones who labor for the gospel, not just in the Philippines but in other places we have been and indeed everywhere the Lord is reaching out in this late hour.

Once again our June Convention will be here soon. This year we will be meeting here in Southern Pines. I hope you will prayerfully consider joining us.

Your brother in Christ,
Phil Enlow
