As I Woke Up This Morning

by Joy Dyer

When you wake up each morning
Is there a thought on your mind?
Sleep, does it keep you?
Is there a stirring deep inside?

Return to Words of Encouragement

As I woke up this morning
I had a thought on my mind;
Sleep could not keep me
There was a deep stirring inside.

So I arose to get ready
And get the kids up for school;
We have places to go and other things we must do.
But when I walked out my bedroom
I fell on my knees;
He said

This could be the day. Are you ready for me?
I stand at your door and knock
but you won’t let me in.
What is so important that you don’t want me there?
Your life is too busy
but I am still here.

As the moments began to pass by, so did the cars on the road;
The phone kept on ringing, life just kept going on;
but none of it mattered, my vision is changed;
I want to live through Jesus
and praise His Holy Name

As I woke up this morning
I had a thought on my mind;
Sleep could not keep me
There was a stirring deep inside.
So I arose to get ready, but stayed on my knees;
You see, my Savior is waiting
for me to let Him in and lead.

This could be the day.
Are you ready for Him?
Will you go your own way or will you let Him in?
There is nothing more important than living for Christ,
or are you too busy living your own life?

When you wake up each morning
Is there a thought on your mind?
Sleep, does it keep you?
Is there a stirring deep inside?
When you rise to get ready, do you fall on your knees?
Is your Savior knocking or did He already leave?
Today your Savior is knocking. Don’t let Him leave.
