“Questions About Pornography”

An anonymous Christian Sister writes, “What about the husband who professes to be a Christian, and secretly indulges himself in pornography on the net. He visits chat rooms...uses his credit card to buy several memberships to “Adult Sites” What is this? I know it is sin and unclean, but is it adultery? Has he committed real adultery or what? It sure feels like that for his Christian wife, who has found this out without him knowing.

I am totally broken in my spirit, and all the trust that I had in him has totally gone. Is he in danger of getting some lust demon, or some sex demon, or could this already have happened? Before I confront him with this...I would like some counsel.

Dear Sister in the Lord:

Greetings to you in the faithful and wonderful name of Jesus our blessed Lord and Savior. He said that he would never leave us nor forsake us.

Please forgive us for the delay in answering your serious letter and cry for help in your time of need. We have been in a Special Meeting in North Carolina.

Recently I heard a statistic that was shocking to say the least. It has been reported that “Pornography” has a greater audience than all the sports combined. Given the lateness of the hour...the “Darkness” that has covered the earth, and the wickedness we see all around us...Surely we should heed the Apostle Paul’s instruction in Ephesians 6:10-11, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

I am no expert on the subject of “Pornography”...however I believe that it is one of the principle “Tools of the Devil” in these last days to destroy lives and marriages. I also believe that the problem you describe about your husband is more widespread than we dare to realize. Not only is it a problem with the unsaved population...But, based on what I read in Christian Publications...It is also a growing problem with the saved as well. THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE. May God help us to expose this wickedness...and shine the “Light of Truth” on it. so that God’s people can be set free.

It has been reported that the addiction to “Pornography” is just as powerful...if not more powerful than the addiction to cocaine, or heroine. BUT PRAISE BE TO GOD...THERE IS HOPE! “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” II Cor. 10:5.

Dear Sister in the Lord...My heart goes out to you. I know you are hurting...you feel betrayed...and you have every right to feel this way. You ask several questions concerning your husband. My opinion is of no value to you...however, let us go to the word of God for help.

Jesus said...”Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27-28).

You say that your husband claims to be a Christian. I do not know his heart...God knows them that are his. Sometimes people turn over a new leaf...make a profession of faith. They mean well...however they are not saved. Listen to what Jesus says about this...”When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come he findeth it empty, swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.” (Matthew 12:43-45).

It is possible that your husband has several demons...those of lust, perversion, uncleanness, and also addicted to pornography.

It is also possible that your husband is indeed a Christian...and has been deceived by Satan to do the things that he is doing. However, if he is a Real Christian, your husband’s conscience will be greatly affected by his wicked behavior. “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30).

It is impossible for a Christian to do the things that your husband is doing for very long...because God will chastise him for his sin. (Heb. 12:6-8). If his conscience is not affected and he is not being chastised by God...then he is bastard and not a son.

Dear Sister in the Lord: THIS IS MY COUNSEL TO YOU:
  • Ask the Lord for wisdom, love, compassion as you confront your husband about this serious matter.
  • Ask him if he is involved in pornography. Give him a chance to come clean first.
  • If he confesses his sin...God’s word says...”If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9).
  • If your husband does not acknowledge his involvement with pornography...then...you must present the proof you have to him.

HOW WILL YOUR HUSBAND REACT TO ALL OF THIS?

I do not know how he will react. I pray that you and your husband can go to a Christian Counselor/Minister to get help for this serious problem. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. However, both of you must want help...and especially your husband. He has a “Wicked Addiction” that can only be broken by the power of God. If he will confess his sin, cry out to God with all of his heart, and be willing to forsake his sin...then God will gloriously deliver him from this awful addiction.

Dear Sister in the Lord:

Don’t give up...keep looking to the Lord...keep praying...There is POWER IN PRAYER! God can Save...He can Heal...He can Deliver. We at Midnight Cry Ministries will keep you in our prayers.

In His Service,
Jimmy R. Robbins

P.S.: Keep in touch. Let us know how we can be of further help.
